my Mum used to make them the same way. I think the lemon icing really brings out the taste of the mince.
I don't bother making them now just for me, as my husband has become quite seriously allergic to gluten. I suppose I should try making some gluten-free ones.

Lovely, SueA - it's mince pie making day today, obviously - ready to take tomorrow, and I have some lemon juice all ready! I never put lids on my pies, anyway - I add a little pastry star usually.
