I've bought a few things from Joe Brown - very nice clothes, although a bit expensive. I LOVE Joe brown clothes, I have quite a few of them Yes @hywel, they are pricey but worth it

EEEK, daitheplant! Yes, I'm suffering from email-itis as well. All my online orders have now arrived. It's wrapping time now. As for what OH is giving me - I chose a lovely jacket from a catalogue - out of stock and unavailable. I tried again with a company I've used before but they have gone out of business. Eventually I spotted a lovely blue knitted jacket and OH rang them - guess what - sold out. I thought I was going to be the only person with no pressies this year - but I persevered and a Joe Brown jacket is on its way. If you don't know that company, they make very 'quirky' clothes . I have a jacket from them already which I love.[/font] You have very good taste Geranium

I've had plenty of Black Friday emails too Most of my shopping has been done online this year, we have decided just token gifts for each other as neither of us can think of anything we want

OH's pressy from me arrived yesterday - he tried it on and it is a gorgeous sweater - he thinks it's too good to wear in the garage though. Hmmm...now what? Glad you know about Joe Brown. I can't wait to see my new jacket! I think it's called 'Royal Check'. I have wrapped all the books I am giving my family - I give myself one as well, naturally. This little tradition started way back when the children were knee high to a grasshopper. I call them 'Boxing Day Books' as they were meant to spread Christmas out a bit. It worked, too!

I have a roast chicken lunch, with a walk afterwards, if the weather allows, then the rest of the time is watching the telly and a phone call to family or friends, to break the monotony. It's like a normal weekend, but with better films, really.
Christmas is different, if you have children, I guess.

I am a believer that your tree does not go up before 1st December. Ours usually mid month. I start making lists during the summer holidays while relaxing in the sun. The boys both know that any wish list gifts must be on the lists by end of October and I start my actual shopping from beginning of September by picking up odd dry goods when food shopping. Then in October I start buying gifts. I have a very tight budget so everything has to be planned ahead but it does mean I get what is actually wanted and what is actually going to be used. I don't buy because it's a bargain they may like it I am a they want it where can I best price it. We don't really do adult gifts nowadays just a little something pre chosen. Oh and as much as I love to listen to Bing Crosby and Frank Sinatra at Christmas I DON'T do Christmas songs before December if I can help it- this year so far so good

Christmas, in this house, is just a glorified Sunday. Last Christmas morning I spent at the allotments. Before mum died, I spent a lot of the festive period slaving in the kitchen, or doing taxi duties. I used to have to go collect my sister and family, a half hour or so before dishing up the lunch, whilst three other drivers sat in the lounge, opening presents and having a drink! At least four roast dinners for six to ten or so, even on my birthday!
Call me Cinders!

Haven't you got any family or neighbours to have a special meal with? Some people I know spend their day at a Care Home with old people who have nobody - or in a Centre helping serve meals to homeless people. It certainly spreads a little happiness, whatever your beliefs.

Good job you rescued him Rosie ! We just spend Christmas quietly together, I've never had a big family & am not happy at big get togethers & although I bake a Christmas cake we don't go in for a massive meal or anything. The Cyber Monday emails have started now - 54 so far this morning!

I heard last night that our no.1 granddaughter and family will be with us all on Christmas Day - we're sending them money to buy pressies, but now I shall have to find a little something extra for each of them to unwrap. Thinking cap on again! How lovely, though. Two of our Gt. grandchildren!
