I liked your video - you have to be commended for trying! I used to show Fuchsia's and Pelargoniums but not veg - sorry can't help with that at all, but maybe Derek Brooks on this site or some of the other veg for show growers will help you! Do you have a link for your utube channel? Good luck with showing! :-))

If you're selling 'grow your own giant pumpkin' sets thecrackedpotgardener then you presumably must have grown them before & know what you're doing so you should be well on your way to success at the show! You said you're too late for onions but you could try growing show onions from plants if that's allowed , I think Mr. Fothergills/Marshalls/Unwins have been advertising that they have got some Kelsae show onion starter plants available, they didn't have seeds because of a crop failure this year. The only thing with your video I would suggest is maybe put your compost/water/trays etc. a bit closer to where your camera is so you don't have to disappear from shot for ages & the background sounds are very loud, brushing up seeds etc. so maybe you can move your camera/mike a bit further away - I know nothing about filming though so it's just an observation.

You could try Runner beans, don't take up much space, 'Benchmaster' or 'Enorma' good varieties for exhibition. Potatoes grown in 17 litre polybags not too difficult either. Onions/Leeks are a bit specialist, better from seed really. For big veg you need seed from a large 'strain' which you wont find on the Asda seed rack. DT Brown and a few others sell Onion plants suitable for show. Dahlias for show are best grown from rooted cuttings, tubers are great for a garden though. Look at 'Halls of Heddon' or 'Eurodahlia'. Sweet Peas might be an idea, sure they'll have classes for them. Need a bit of attention for show quality though. Hope I've given you some ideas, good luck in your show.

You could also grow parsnips and carrots in drainpipes. I used to show Gladiator parsnips and New Red Intermediate carrots grown this way.

Ahhh.... you have anticipated my Cunning Carrot Plan @diatheplant, though I was going to use something other than drainpipes.

A small semi cactus Dahlia, one of my many favourite Dahlias.

I really WILL get to look at your video this weekend thecrackedpotgardener ... my broadband at home is down at the moment, and its awkward to watch a video (with sound) at work (open plan office). daitheplant - I was thinking of 2 litre (or larger) drinks bottles (e.g. lemonade etc) with the top bit sawn off. That would make them around 8"-10" deep, which is deeper than the growing box I used LAST season. (and my carrots where only around 4" long at most).
