I've just been given five Momeymaker plants - they aren't what I would choose to grow, but free is good. My dad used to grow these years ago, I can't recall if they are good ones or not.
What ones will you be growing?

I've grown mostly Alicante (I've potted up about 100 or so), Stoners exhibition (a very old show variety), Roma (large plum tomatoes), and an F1 I'm trying called Orkado. I'll grow about 70 in all. Be ready for out in a few weeks.

Very reliable and taste good sweetpea. I intended to grow more Sungold this summer. The French tomatoes which my neighbour grew outdoors were very tasty and used for dianthus' soup. They were good for anything, but fairly large. My seed for the seed swap is now ash of course.

I put in a lot of tomato plants this year but a lot of them died off, great one minute, dead the next ;( I'm not sure what I salvaged out of them all. I need to write them down in my diary though so I'll update this soon

dianthus did I mention that I have made loads of soup because Jeremy brought home bags of tomatoes which he got cheap. It is good in the freezer and I was able to short cut it by throwing away a lot of the pippy stuff, which I had to sieve very much before. The man who sold me the composter said never put tomato seeds in the compost. Well, I got loads of seedlings in the compost om UK anyway, so I am not bothering about that.

I've only ever grown Moneymakers, piskie. Not through choice in partiuclar... it just sort of happened that way. I like them. They're a decent size and taste nice, and they seem trouble-free. Sometimes... not often, but sometimes.. they actually turn RED ! There is a party on the Roofgarden when THAT happens !

Thirty years ago, I had a party in my garden, and after dark, one dancing female squealed.... a torch on the problem showed that we had vibrated all the worms to the surface of the lawn, and she had stood on one!!! They were huge, too
