One of my 'indoor' tomatoes - Shirley - started getting brown spotty patches on the leaves, so I've cut them off. It now has three leaves and a few new ones opening at the top, so it looks a bit lanky. I am hoping the brown spots will not appear again, but if they do it's going in the bin.
The other three - Alicante Gardeners Delight and Rapunzel are doing well. I've put sticks with them and tied them on, and put them separately in the shelter where they are to grow this year.
I am rather disappointed not to have found a Roma variety this year, so next year maybe I'll sow a seed or two..

Eli, The brown spots could be almost anything but very unlikely to be blight. Wrong time of year & the weather conditions are not the right ones either. Also growing them inside makes it more difficult to catch it. But keep the foliage dry at all times as the blight spores need a wet surface to germinate on. If your other tomato plants are alright it could just be overwatering/underwatering or cold or even the compost! There are many variables that affect tomatoes. What size pot is the plant in? It may not have enough food if the pot is very small. They are very hungry plants that grow incredibly quickly & on top of that we expect them to give us a lot of fruit!

My tomato plants are growing quickly. I only repotted them last week but I think they'll need doing again soon.

Thank you balc2 I thought I'd pot them on in stages this year instead of straight into big pots as I usually do. I had the advice on another site I don't look at much now ...

You're welcome, Eli
This morning I repotted a tomato plant as well. It was the self-sown tomato that is now beginning to get to a nice size. At the rate things are going it may be the ONLY tomato plant as well!

Thanks, grindle! It's certainly much better than any of the ones I sowed on the first day of spring! A few of them have died since I put them outside in the mini-greenhouse on the balcony. 😔

The weather has certainly been strange this year, even more than is usual for the spring in the UK!
My poor seedlings are a long way from other years! I expect them to grow, eventually, but I think in the future I'll wait a month longer before I sow them. There's nothing to be gained by sowing seeds in March!

I'm sorry to hear about your tomato seedlings balc2, maybe you could buy one or two plants for this year. I know how you like them.
I repotted mine today, into their final pots. I planted the Moneymaker into a slightly larger pot than the others because it's such a strong vigorous plant. Alicante is also a nice strong plant. I cut the side shoots off them all as well.
I put tall sticks with them and tied them on.

Thanks, Eli , but about half the plants should grow. Not as many as I had expected but better than nothing. The seedlings ought to be at least as strong & big as the self-sown one by now. I've looked at photos of the balcony from other years & they were much more advanced - ready to put into their final positions in the growbags!
This is the self-sown tomato plant which is how the rest of my tomato seedlings should be looking like at this stage of the season! Even in a few days the difference in the size of the plant after repotting combined with two warm sunny days is noticeable!
