It's that time of the year once again when we start off our toms! I'll be sowing mine in a week's time. I usually sow my tomato seeds on March 21st every year. I've tried on a couple of occasions sowing them earlier but with bad results. So I've decided to do as I've done most years this year as well.
Let's see what others of you are growing this year & let's see some photos of them growing, flowering & fruiting during the year.

I haven't decided what I'm doing about tomatoes this year yet, Since it's only me here now I don't need many, and also I am trying to reorganise my garden and want to concentrate on that this year. Maybe I'll buy a plant or two, we'll see.
I hope you don't get a repeat of what happened last year balc2

I sow mine on the 20th every year . Hubbys birthday!
They usually do well so I will also try and take pictures. But like Grindle this is old seed. If they dont germinate I will buy more. Ailsa Craig is my preferred salad tom and it is an old variety so has a good flavour.

grindle, what toms did you sow? Eli, if you do plant any let's see a few photos during the year. Thanks for wishing me better luck with mine this year! The wilting last year was the first time I had ever experienced it! It very obviously was in the 3 growbags I bought. I've been growing them in fresh growbags every single year. I've never used the same ones for a 2nd year. seaburn, not long till both events then! I've grow "Alisa Craig" a couple of times.

I did sungold and black cherry for sure but off the top of my head I can't remember will have a look when it's light, but so far nothing has appeared so I have a feeling they're not viable @balc so yesterday I ordered some more, Tomato Sungold F1 - 1 TOMATO SAKURA F1 1 Tomato Plum Nagina F1 ( Blight Resistant) - the last 2 I've not tried before

Sungold and Gardeners’ Delight are ‘musts’ for me. I have no greenhouse here, so I am buying the plants and I ordered yesterday. Old age has really set it.

grindle Shame about your seeds not germinating! I've never tried to germinate seeds more than 2 years old! The last time I did that I got 100% germination! I don't expect there will be any trouble this year. I'm going to sow some fresh seed I bought on the Internet + some I got from someone on another gardening forum. Haven't got room for more that about 10 plants anyway. Cherry I've never grown 'Sungold' but it seems it's a good tom!

Perhaps next year, grindle as this year I have more than enough seeds to sow - in fact I will sow the seeds tomorrow!

I sowed my tomato 'Gardeners Delight' seeds this morning. I used some rootrainers which I put in an electric propagator after giving both a good wash with hot soapy water.
