After some thought I decided that as Magnolias aren't quite as fussy as Acers and it only cost £10, I'd plant it. I dug out an enormous amount of soil and filled with peaty compost and put 'Root grow' under it. All I need now is to know what it is.

I have three Acers - two just had a few tips damaged, the other has a branch that seeems to be dead. It would be the one on the bank - up the steps again!

I accidentally bought a couple of plants. A Rogue Cardinal and an Acer 'Little Princess' to console me for the loss of my Orange dream which they didn't have. Well the both only came to £7.
