Today I thought I would try sowing just a few salads with gentle heat, Tom Thumb, Spinach and Radish. Yes it's early but they'll remain in the GH so worth a go. Also I have been given some 'Alpine Strawberries'. On the pkt it says sow Jan-March so I thought I would try just a few of them too as on the pkt it also says "crops in 24 weeks. I thought they would be good in pots, (thanks for the seeds WF)

You're welcome merlin I was wondering if it was too early to start some lettuce. I've got enough seeds so if it is a disaster I wont have lost anything.

Remember it is light as well as heat that many seedlings need at this time of year. I tend to find that later sowings soon catch up and do just as well, less tendency to damping off problems.

Ah! the voice of sanity and experience, absolutely right of cause and saves electricity too. I was going to sow yesterday but had a visitor. On reflection I'm glad as the night frosts are quite severe, it is still Jan! I've decided to curb my impetuosity

Could they still be at the old house - you said you were going back there.

We will be back and forward for a wee while till we get it in the market. I am 99% sure they are here though, there is oodles of stuff up in the loft till Graham gets a garage built, so we will probably find them then

No, they get too leggy. I want to get my butterfly antirrhinums in ASAP, but I'm restraining my self.
