Yes indeed....the mind boggles . I'm going to have to be strict about how many "exotics" I try....else I will probably need another tunnel ....Poor Brian would have a thrombie. ...he is pretty tired and we only did a couple of hours today...perhaps a day off tomorrow ...we shall see.... Yes the skin should be pretty tough.....its guaranteed for 5 years I think...its an "anti-condensation" one....non-drip....apparently any condensation forms a film rather than running all over the place.....I will let you know if it does

Are you starting anything off in your GH ready to go in it later?

Are you starting anything off in your GH ready to go in it later? So far....butternut squash and tomato's. A slug gobbled the cucumber I was growing, and I'm sowing melon seeds soon. I'm hoping to grow pak choi as well...peppers and aubergine are another contender....a grape vine...perhaps a peach.....salad leaves of course....so the bunnies won't nibble them....I'm sure I will think and try others.......any suggestions?

We have been looking at tunnels for the lottie probably for later in the year, so I'd be interested in how things go and what process you went through to decide, there are so many to choose from. A chap on our site has one but isn't impressed, as his toms got frosted last year.

We got our tunnel from "First Tunnels". There are quite a few companies out there Poly....its a question of deciding what suits you best......particularly from a cost point of view. There are some good offers out there. We had a dvd to look at.....sent to us by SueA....which gives an excellent overview of how its all put together. Of course it always looks easier on the dvd..... If there's 2/3 putting it together that would make life a lot easier....Oh....and someone reasonably young....not like us old pensioners ....Poor Brian is really suffering now We/OH has had a few hiccups...not helped by the fact that our site is not level.....we measured and measured to ensure we had them right, but he had to a bit of jiggling. We now have the framework all completed. Next job is to tape all the exposed nuts and bolts and metal edges; then the anti-hot spot tape has to be applied....then the skin can go on. Please, please keep your fingers crossed for a few dry non-windy days to do this Poly if you want I can send you the dvd

He shouldn't have put his toms in too early then...lol....or at least covered them over...thats the only disadvantage I can think of as most people have them on allotments or no-where to plug in a heater. I'm not certain about using paraffin heaters in them...something to discuss with supplier I expect......

yes I'd like the DVD please we had thought first tunnel had the best for us, as its not easy to dig very deep our lottie has a stone pan around 18-24 inches below the soil, so we would need one with a base rather than trenched. I'll send you my address, Thanks and if you've seen my post re wheelbarrows you'll see I'll need lots of Patience

Went down to the lottie today to put covers over the brassica beds following several visits from pigeons/rabbits Also prepared the strawberry beds ready for covers.....gave everything a good watering, especially the spuds....which are starting to show well .....covered the carrot plot too.......hope to finish off the polytunnel framework tomorrow....and tape up all the bare edges and nuts/bolts....once the hot spot tape is applied to the hoops.....the top can go on ;D ;D

We had a loonnnnnng day at the lottie today ....a breeze got up as we were putting the cover on.....grrrr.......gave us a few problems....one of which being our lottie neighbour trying to come through the other gate for the first time, asking "have you got a key"...ours won't work!.....just as we were pulling the cover over....with bated breath........I must admit I lied :- No I don't have mine...it was actually in my pocket ....what an idiot.........he kept making inane remarks.....which did not go down well with OH At 3.30pm we had had enough ... The sides are all fixed.....one of the door frames is fixed.....it was not easy....not at our age anyway; hopefully we will finish it off tomorrow......the wedding will have to wait......and the shopping
