Geranium that particular Aster was praised in the Alan Gray gardening programme yesterday. Your new garden will look superb.

Thank you - it will take a while to 'mature' and also, the wall will look so completely different as a back-drop for my top border after a green hedge. I have to be very careful that the colours in the new planting area don't work against the existing ones. I'm not a bit surprised that 'Monch' was singled out - it's been in flower for about three weeks now, and it'll carry on until late October.

Nothing exotic but I took a few photos yesterday. Froglady's buddleia, via Cherry. Purple loosestrife in the pond Bee in the oriental clematis, can't remember what variety it is.

I inherited three Clematis tangutica - a bit like yours. Do you find it to be a bit too vigorous? I cut mine to the base each year and they grow at least 12' in a season. Impossible to get them trained, too.

Sue that Buddleia from Margaret grows much better in a wetter climate. Mine never looks as good as yours.

Impossible to get them trained, too. It does grow like wildfire Geranium, unfortunately though most of the flowers end up on the other side of the fence in the neighbour's garden! I didn't cut it back at all the last couple of years & it has started to flower more on the top & on my side but it is starting to cover the witch-hazel & appears to have killed off the crocosmias so it may have to have the 'chop'! ;D

This was the same buddleia this morning when I opened the back door, it's been very popular today with a couple of peacocks, small tortoiseshells & bees!

Lovely photo - and I like that particular Buddleia. I'm not too keen on the one I have - it might have to go. It's definitely past its sell-by date, anyway! Sue, I honestly wish our predecessors had chosen less errr....'vigorous' clems. I can't cope with the one in the far corner of the garden, so it's gone over the fence, up the apple tree, and good luck to it. The other two get hacked right back. I may have to kill one of them off...
