My thuggish ones aren't as profuse any more - thank goodness. Unfortunately, although I've tried twice, I can't persuade 'Pamina'or 'Pretty Lady somebody or other' to get established. I do have 'Whirlwind' in the back garden though - that seems happy there. I've also got a well-established double pink one in the front garden. 'Whirlwind'This is a 'find' from the Taunton Flower Show. It's very pretty and airy for an Aster. Aster sedifolius

That's very colourful. I must get some photos of the Asters as they come into flower. I've forgotten the name of this one - maybe someone could remind me...it grows in shade. I bought two tiny pots of Aster 'Victoria' from the GC for instant colour.

Have 7 pots of these. marigold orange boy, free seed with one of the mags, have done well but suspect they wont last much longer as the evenings are getting noticably colder now.

Thank you, Peony. That's the one. I had (yet another) senior moment about its name! Yes, Sedums are comimg into their own atm. Iwas able to take two huge pots to my gardening friends in the village - where Mark is building the wall, there were some growing, so OH dug them out for me. Much better than composting them! It's lovely to see how much the insects enjoy them. Is that a Lotus hirsutus I see there? I like that little shrub. Mine suffered during the hard winters, but came back OK.

I had to look this up G as I didn't know what it looks like and I can see why you thought it might be Lotus hirsutus because of the foliage, but its a chrysanthemum that hasn't started flowering yet ;D
