First flowers on my lavatera opened today. Should now keep flowering until the frost. Don't know the variety but not Barnsley. I gave up Lavatera because the blooms are on the ends of the branches and it keeps coming out and out until it takes over. Perhaps I should have pruned it hard. You can treat them much like Buddleia ie prune hard in Feb. March. AT least that is what I tend to do.

My Phlox are starting to flower. This is the first one. The Clematis in the new trough are looking amazing! Lychnis 'Gardeners' World'. Pity it's sterile.

They are lovely. The clematis likes where it is. Will that Lychnis (No it won't). It has just gone into my slow brain that it is sterile. I always keep a few of the single variety because it grows in impossible places.

Rosie, how many years did it take you to create your garden? I do not know the names of those beautiful flowers.

Rosie, how many years did it take you to create your garden? I do not know the names of those beautiful flowers. Hi Privat, well we have lived in this house since Jan 2011, so it's taken 2 1/2 years so far, it's no where near finished yet, but then will it ever be There were virtually no plants in the garden when we moved here, so pretty much all the plants you see we have put in. They have established them selves very well, esp this year .

I love the water lilies - it almost makes me want a pond! My new Clems on the wall are all in flower now. 'Mary Rose' seemed very appropriate because apparently she's the first recorded Clematis and dates back to 1500, like our house. I can't capture the true colour of Clematis 'Semu'. It's a more intense shade than the photo. My Monardas are beginning to bloom - this one is 'Hartland Wine'. So are the Inulas - I find the form of the bud just before it opens fascinating.

Lovely pics. Geranium, I love the fluffy inula! My lilies are finally opening in the sun, not sure which varieties these are as I've had them years & the labels have faded as has my memory! the philadelphus smells lovely! my monarda is flowering as well, must check the variety, I've pushed the original label in by that one I think!

All looking great, especially the Inula Geranium and if you mean the first Clematis, 'Mary Rose', dates back to the 1500s, it is a very sophisticated flower for this age. SueA I have only one Monarda left after the last two winters. It is a dwarf, 'Cranberry Lace' which escaped because it was still in a pot. This one is struggling, but I will look after it better. I do like them though.

I've got more lilies to come yet Geranium which I only potted up late after buying them as an end of season bargain but I do think quite a few of my plants are behind this year. I don't usually get monardas to stay Cherry , I found the label for that one, it's 'Pink Lace', I bought it already forming buds so that at least I would get flowers this summer!

I got really confused when I read that yours is called 'Pink Lace', SueA. I have one called 'Cranberry Ice'. There's also another called 'Cranberry Lace'. I must look at mine and see if it's in bud yet. In the mean time, here's one of my containers in full bloom! And the species Clematis viticella climbing through the twisted willow. Sometimes looking upwards has a reward! Zantedeschia 'Captain Reno'

SueA that suggests that Monardas are not as hardy as I thought. I lost nearly all of mine and some were really good ones. Geranium your pot is beautifully put together. I love the triphyllas. sweetpea there are a lot of waterlilies there and the Lavatera is a good deep colour.

Lovely colour zantedeschia Geranium Another of my lilies has come out, I think this is 'Royal Sunset', slightly nibbled before it opened! This is my achillea 'Summer Berries' complete with gatekeeper butterfly(first I've seen this year). Another shot of the same showing the chaenomeles is flowering again behind it.
