Hi there folks, I planted some Lavender seeds back in spring, and in due course some 'things' started sprouting. Trouble is... I'm not sure that they ARE lavender. I'm wondering whether I'm actually cultivating some self-set weeds ? Here is the biggest and most vigorous of the plants.... and this does NOT look like Lavender to me ? The other two look a BIT more like I expected.... (My apologies for the poor quality of the photographs). Any thoughts ?

You answered it yourself Roofy. Well done. All part of the learning experience. Even growing the weed taught you something. I am still learning.

Well I'm pretty sure the top picture shows a tasty Purple Loosestrife weed... tasty for the tortoises I have been growing them from seed for their delectation! The last two look a lot like the small lavender plants I have grown as well

I don't see any feathers ? So I'm assuming its a 'generic' weed ? Thanks for all your help. I'll keep you posted on the fate of the 'others'.

First one could be loosestrife as Bess suggests or maybe a willowherb (weed/wildflower depends on your point of view) - they pop up everywhere here in pots & containers, they do have pretty little pink flowers but not ideal if you really wanted lavenders!

Just looked it up. I mispelled the species name, it's megapotamicum, not megaponticum

I think the first one is a type of Willowherb. It gets small pink flowers and they grow everywhere in my garden.

Hmmm... unfortunately I threw it away. That's a shame, as it sounds quite pretty.
If any more of them crop up, I might actually pot them and cultivate them to see what happens.

They're pernicious weeds roofgardener, and not particularly pretty The best thing to do is get rid of them.
