scrumpy we seem to be in the same boat with our health at the moment, I did not attend a show last Sat, too painful to stand for more than half hour. People don't realise how sometimes the most simplest of things, ie, standing still, can cause so much grief. Will be booking an appointment with the GP to see a consultant if things don't improve in the next week or so.

Video does not work for me on either Firefox or internet explorer. You should be able to download it from that site.

scrumpy you still did very well under very bad conditions. Congratulations, and I hope your health is now alright. The ankle is settling down a bit now, so will be able to get round the plants and tidy up a bit for the 2nd flush. I have neglected my disbudding and spraying this year so I can't grow them any worse, but this little video shows how they are at present after getting back from Southport, after a few days heavy rain and strong winds. video

Steve won the Championship with a very good entry his Eastwood Moonlight was excellent and the highest scoring vase Golden Girl, Oakwood Goldcrest and I think Mary's were his other three vases he beat my other mate Graham McFarlane by one point but so so pleased for Steve. Graham managed to win five or six classes,as for myself did not take too much stuff as only just getting into them and some damping off but managed three firsts and a couple of thirds. Scrumpy not sure but had a few places I think. After a total nightmare day I managed 2 firsts, three 2nds and two 3rds. I managed 2 NAS, one for not reading the schedule properly, and one Zoe going oversize in the 3 vases of 3. Started off badly when a bucket of 3 giants overturned in the van, knocking off their heads, and one of my mediums. Just so happened that they were my 3 best Bonaventure meaning I was left with just 6 for the 6 vases. They got a 2nd to Ray Weeks but my 3 best ones would have given him a good run in the 3 vases. Just about recovering now from the show. Been having severe ankle problems the last few weeks, along with trying to pass a kidney stone, so staging was incredibly difficult as I could hardly stand. By the end, I was just trying to get them in the vases, hence the mistakes. I even cocked up with the entry cards !! Still, the vases that were NAS , my Greenways Moonlight, looked nice on the bench. And the Zoes were nice. Classes I won were for small ball, Blyton Softer Gleam. I thought they looked really good. Also got a first for 3 vases of miniature decs, which was nice, as I beat Steve's entry. Steves blooms were immaculate and he deserved all his successes. Will put pictures on later, including the exhibition kidney stone that I finally passed on Friday !!

Well had a visit to Shrewsbury Thursday with my Dahlia bud Barry what a great show lots and lots to see more than likely go again next year, it's a bit early for Dahlias unless you grow for it like Scrumpy. Just had a phone call off Barry he was delighted to win the trophy for the best Dahlias in the show, with a very very good vase of nine pom pons. He also had a cracking vase of Barbarry Vulcan. That's a variety I am also growing and is looking very good. What a good start as he only had a few blooms ready. They were nice poms.

scrumpy all look stunning . Did not know you grew waterlilys . Your zoe look such brighter Orange than my one. Great stuff. I don't grow waterlillys. They are the wifes. She liked them at Southport so Derek sent me some tubers. I took some cuttings and bunged them in a little patch between the hydrangeas and fuschia bush. When I remember I take off the odd bud here and there. As to Zoe, must be a soil thing.

I just gave the blooms for the display. The NDS arranged them. Probably right about Brenda, we'll see what the 2nd flush looks like.

I will be able to provide a great display for the NDS stand. I will be putting in half the entries I normally do. The Zoes, and miniature decs shown, along with 3 brenda t were all he took. Look nice in baskets. As to the rest, 10 firsts, 2 2nds and 1 third. A little bit of competition from Ians friend Barry Smith. Ian helped arrange Barry's blooms, but I don't know who did the Miniature Ball, Barbarry Vulcan?, but whoever did miseed the earwig that was munching away. I left it in when I saw it as it was a better vase than my Mary's and I was hoping there would be nothing left by morning Not to be.

Did not post in blooms as not good enough. First zoe. Only allowed this one to come. A bit young and shallow and centre not there yet and a bit small made a small but only just. Have reduced the number up. Also gave a lot of water to the main bed. Form I like and it takes the weather . Got a long way to go. Will make size easily.
