I will be able to provide a great display for the NDS stand. I will be putting in half the entries I normally do.

Time from when you can tie a plant label around the crown bud. Put the date on the label. Do the same with wing buds. Those shown are minimum 25 days so they won't be far off. Anything more advanced than those will be finished.

Hi Dianthus, I think it was one boy not boys! Lesley keep on posting For Christs sake Ian give it a rest. You are pretty good at dishing it out but not so good at taking it. Bully my ****. I made a light hearted comment and all I get is grief. Pathetic the lot of you.

For those that are criticising my comments above, I put some smiley things on to show it was meant to be a humorous post. As people don't appear to be able to appreciate that I shan't bother posting anymore.

Definitely one for the compost heap Actually, thinking about it, looks like one of Ian Sutherlands specimen blooms he put in at Harrogate last year

Earwigs are pretty thick. They choose a plant, disappear during the day, and as soon as it gets dark they come back to the spot where they left off. So nip out with your torch at night, find the little wiggy and proceed to squash it

That centre may not last until tomorrow. Looks a bit clock faced. Not enough depth.

I remove all leaves to within a foot of the soil. Zoe, keep knocking back each side shoot from each leaf joints when you see the bud, until you either reach the last pair of leaves and can go no further, or until about the 10th of August. Or you can let them flower now, and go for 2nd flush for September shows. That's what I do. Next year, late cuttings stopped late will make it easier. Hillcrest candy, if you have 4 or 5 strong shoots concentrate on those, get rid of the weak stuff. Wait for the buds to form, then start knocking back. They will grow nicely on a side bud/lateral. You can allow 2 to grow on some stems, one on the others to get to 7 up.

I have given all my plants some Epsom salts already with the first feed. Used the Phil damp amount. Has helped the foliage. I will also give mine some iron mid month. What's the Phil Damp amount as a matter of interest. I've read his book and can't remember epsom salts being mentioned. Mind you, epsom salts and iron, I'd have a supply of toilet paper ready for your plants.

Practising for my daughters wedding next year, some time in July. She wants me to do dahlias and sweet peas for her. When I know how early I can get the dahlias, she can set a date. The Zoes come early, so I'll be concentrating on them, but looking at the garden at the moment Ryecroft Jan and Marston George may be possibilities.
