Just had an hour in the garden this evening. I have told you about the white rust on the disbud chrysanths. It is a disaster and I have written them off except for just a few plants so I cut most of them down. The 2013 seed catalogues have begun to arrive. Shelleys arrived about a week ago and Marshalls today.I have just made orders out for both these firms ready to post tomorrow.

Wanted to go on the allotment this afternoon but it was too showery.Glad I didn't go because it started raining hard about 4.00 .Between showers I planted some dianthus in a terrace.Apart from that all I did was some tidying up of pot plants in the greenhouse.

Heavy showers today but I went on the allotment and worked between the showers but thought it too wet to do hand weeding as I have been doing . Pulled up some large weeds that are easy to do,mainly willowherbs. The peas and sweet peas have been a washout this year.We have had no peas and only a few sweet peas so I removed the plants which were mostly dead which meant removing all the twistits which were supporting the plants which took a long time.Took down the cane structure which was supposed to be supporting the peas then I will be able to weed the bed easier. Can't take down the sweet pea canes because they are on the same structure as those up which the runner beans are growing and these are doing well. Cut down all the gladioli which had finished flowering .There are not many left now-most of them have flowered during the last three weeks. Also cut off the dahlias that were past their best. Forgot to mention that I took some coleus cuttings this evening.

Just had about an hour this afternoon after school .Because the weather forecast is not good for tomorrow I decided to start cutting the flowers on the allotment for the show.I cut the spray chrysanths because they last longer than any other flower I know.I have only a few gladioli left, they have nearly all flowered in the last 3 weeks. I cut 2 that weren't full open and put them in the house hoping that they will open for Saturday. I finished sorting the veg for the show this evening.

I have cut the rest of my flowers today for Edenfield show from the allotment and my own garden. It rained till about 9.30 but I'm glad it was dry the rest of the day while I got them all cut. The car is all loaded up ready for an early start in the morning.Staging is 8.00 till 12.00 and I want to be there for 8.00. Straight after the show tomorrow evening we are going to our daughters at Portmadog. I will just have time to remove my plants from the car then put the luggage in ready for going. The reason we are going is that our step grandson and his wife are having their baby girl christened on Sunday morning. They live on Anglesey. We will be back home Monday evening so I won't be able to tell you how I went on at the show and show you the pictures till then.
