Before it was time to go to the hut this morning I disbudded and sideshooted the chrysanths. After going to hospital this afternoon I was hoping to go to Blackleach to do my walk round but it was raining. Heather is here and she was going to come with me . Anyway, I went in the greenhouse and started going through the larger plants,tidying them up and cutting them back if needed and discarding any that were no good. It did stop raining but it was too late to go to Blackleach because we were going to Martyn's for tea .Heather went home this evening.

It has been fine today so after going to hospital this afternoon I did my walk round Blackleach. This evening I have weeded the border between the back lawn and the fence, just small weds coming up between the plants.

Almost a full day and evening on the allotment until I got rained off about 8.00.I staked and tied the gladioli in the main bed, planted two rows of beetroot from cell trays and tied the sweet peas again . Spent the rest of the time weeding. Harvested another cauliflower, more peas and the first runner beans.

It was raining a bit this morning so I went in the greenhouse and took 66 fuchsia cuttings. Two commodes with wheels on arrived this afternoon for Rosemary when she comes home and also a bed rail to help her get in and out of bed. I had to wait at home for these to arrive before I could go to hospital to see her .I found out, only this afternoon that she is coming home on Thursday.
It was dry tonight so I went to the allotment. There was signs of blight on some of the potato foliage so I cut down all the plants. Also did some more weeding .

Forgot to mention yesterday that I cut some branches off some apple trees on an adjacent allotment (with the owners permission) .They were overhanging the path between the allotments and onto my allotment. I had to duck my head down to walk along the path. Today I have been to the re-cycling centre with the branches and also 9 sacks of weeds. I have also mowed the lawns. Went to the allotment this evening but only had time to finish tying up the dahlias.

Just as we were starting our walk at Blackleach this morning we had a shower but it didn't last long. The rest of the day has been nice. Did some weeding on the border alongside the visitor centre this afternoon. When I arrived home from Blackleach at 3.20 Martyn and Heather were both at our house waiting for Rosemary to come home. She arrived in the ambulance at 5.30 after exactly 4 months in hospital. I have been to hospital every day during that time except for 2 days when my car was out of action,120 days. It will feel strange not having to go tomorrow. Heather is staying for a week to help Rosemary settle in. Because she is here with her I was able to go to the allotment this evening. I staked and tied the broad beans and pulled up a lot of large weeds among them and round them. Also tied up some annuals that needed it.

This morning I fed the tomatoes, hanging baskets and other containers and some of my pot plants with maxicrop. I also tied up and disbudded the dahlias. Went on the allotment this afternoon. Tied up some of the gladioli and some more annuals that needed doing. Then I dug up the first two rows of potatoes and put them in three supermarket boxes. This evening I sat under the carport and washed the potatoes from two of the boxes and spread the out to dry.

Went on the allotment this afternoon. I gave the onions and leeks another feed of nitro chalk then I dug up another row and a half of potatoes and I have washed them this evening.

This afternoon I finished digging up my potatoes but I still have those grown in bags and tubs to harvest. I have been washing potatoes again this evening .I had some dug up on Friday not washed and those brought home today but didn't have time to do them all.

Washing potatoes again. Did some this morning and some this afternoon. Just one box to do now. Went to a meeting on the allotments this evening and I stayed after to do the watering.

I am thinking about showing on Saturday at Edenfield which is at the other side of Bury from where I live. I used to go regularly but, of course, it hasn't taken place for three years. Whether I go to shows or not depends on whether anyone can stay here with Rosemary because she can't be left. Martyn has said he will come on Saturday then I can go to the show. I need some florists foam so I went to Country Baskets this morning for a box. This afternoon I washed the rest of the potatoes. When I have been washing potatoes I have put to one side those that look suitable for showing. I put these in a separate box and I gave these another washing at the kitchen sink. Went to the allotment this evening just to water.

Today I have mowed the lawns and apart from watering which takes a long time I have started making some preparations for Edenfield show. I sorted out the potatoes and decided which I am taking. I decided which pot plants I am taking and dressed them up. I harvested the short carrots which I have grown in small tubs and buckets. Went to the allotment this evening, mainly to water. I filled up the water butts again. I harvested the long carrots from the drums and picked some rhubarb.

Very hot today and I didn't know if people would want to do the walk at Blackleach this morning but 28 people came and we did do the walk. This afternoon I cut some flowers from the border at Blackleach for Edenfield show. This is where I grow all my perennials. When I got home I washed the carrots that I harvested yesterday and I took some parsnips out of the tubes to see if they were any good for the show. Just went to the allotment this evening to water but Heather wanted me home at 7.45 then she could go home so didn't have time to water , only the most important things.  Parsnips from the tubes. They are on a towel because I wrap them in a wet towel overnight to keep them fresh.

I have been preparing for Whitefield show most of the day .Went to the allotment this morning and picked some broad beans, French beans, peas and 2 marrows and cut a lot of flowers. Cut flowers from my garden this afternoon. This evening I have packed them all in the car ready for an early start in the morning.
