My very busy weekend is over for another year. I told you of all the work that goes on before the show-transporting table and putting them up and marking the classes out. After the show of course all the tables have to go back. Before this I have to go home with all the plants that I have been showing and other things I want to keep such as potatoes and (I keep these from show to show ),so it is a lot of work. Anyway ,it was a very good show. The standard of exhibits is higher than most local shows I go to. I did very well and won five trophies. I won the most points in the flower classes and the veg classes and, of course, the whole show. Also most point in dahlias and most points in chrysanths. Altogether I got 18 firsts , 19 seconds and 15 thirds.in dahlias I won with Bryn Terfel(giant dec), Elma E (large dec), Hy fashion (small dec),willos violet (pompom ) and Don Hill(in the class for "any other type" ) In veg I won with long carrots, leeks, and not over 8 oz. onions. This is the one I was most pleased about as there were 8 good entries. I also achieved a milestone in showing. I won my tenthousandth prize and it is appropriate that I did it at my own show. The president announced this when giving out the prizes. I would like to know if anyone else has won so many . I very much doubt it but of course I have no way of finding out. I will show you some pictures, probably tomorrow, unless you are fed up of seeing my pictures. Derek, I just won my ten millionth prize. It was a good feeling, then I woke up Well done you.

This afternoon I went on the allotment and went through the dahlias again-dead heading, disbudding and tying up if needed. I also tried something I have not done before. I wanted to try and keep the long carrots I showed yesterday till my next show which is not for two weeks. They were grown in bore holes in large drums and I took them back to the allotment and put them back in the same bore holes. Don't know if it will work or not . I may not have got the back without bending the ends but it is worth a try. Yesterday when I was telling you which dahlias I had won first prizes with I forgot to say Rose Jupiter. I entered 9 dahlia classes and won 6 of them and the only class where mine was the only vase was the large decs so I am pleased about this. I will show you a few pictures now.

First with Rose Jupiter (at the back). The Elma E you can see in the next class were not mine but were N.A.S. because the class was for medium cactus.

This is the first year I have grown Ruskin Magnum (Scrumpy sent me the tuber). Only got third with it from three entries. The problem was that one bloom had a mouth organ centre. Another exhibitor who was there also has this variety and he said it does this some years but not others.
