That was one class I never entered as the local show didn't do it.

Well done Derek, shame about the one magnum. I did say the odd bloom was a bit dodgey. They look pretty good for size though.

We have had a day out with Martyn , our son today. He came for us at 11.00 and we were home again at 4.30. The weather forecast wasn't good but it didn't rain till this evening. It is pouring down at present. Before we went I went to school to feed the tomatoes and on the allotment to feed them there. There was another job I wanted to do at school. There is a long bench in the polytunnel on which the children work, sowing seeds etc. Growing up behind the bench are a lot of brambles and they are spreading along the floor underneath and onto the path so the children would be in danger of being scratched. To dig them out I would have to move the bench and several things that were underneath, so I decided to spray them with bramble killer. I left a note for Gina and the caretaker asking them not to cut them down. Hopefully they will be dead before school starts again so I will cut them down then . I have just been in the greenhouse a bit this evening and took a few more fuchsia cuttings and streptocarpus leaf cuttings.

Been on the allotment this afternoon after shopping and again for an hour this evening. This afternoon I started weeding the brassica bed which is bad with chickweed again. I forgot to take my wellies this evening so I didn't do any digging . I just spent the time pulling out weeds from the annual beds that are easy to just pull out such as fat hen, shaggy soldier, shepherds purse and dead nettles. I filled two sacks just doing this

Been on the allotment this afternoon and evening mainly weeding. Brought home the first climbing French beans and some cabbages

Just had a chat with Derek on the phone and he asked me to post a note in here, he is having computer problems but is expecting to get back on line maybe Sunday, he was concerned about anyone wanting a reply and particularly someone who private messaged him, so that's the reason for his absence

Martyn sorted my computer out yesterday and I put a post on here telling you what I had been up to ,but where is it? It hasn't gone onto the forum so I will try again. Today I have been on the allotment this morning , this afternoon and an hour this evening. I have a large clump of Crocosmia "Lucifer".I cut it right down because it was sprawling all over the place ,looking very untidy. Spent all the rest of the time just weeding.

I didn't do a show last weekend so I have not done much apart from weeding the allotment. Weeds have grown very well this year so I took the oppurtunity to tackle them with not having to get ready for a show.I am showing for the next three Saturdays though.

A nicer day today, almost back to summer. I had about an hours gardening this afternoon. I cut down some more chrysanths that were badly affected with white rust and sprayed all the rest. This evening I carried on with weeding on the allotment.

I am showing at Whitefield on Saturday. As I have said before I spend the Friday cutting and sorting flowers and collect and sort the veg on the Thursday. However I have not got much time tomorrow. I have my health walk in the morning , choir practice at night and Rosemary needs the car part of the afternoon so I have been to the allotment this afternoon for most of the veg. I picked beans(4 kinds), courgettes, a marrow, the first sweet corn , radishes and a few sprouts, beet and turnips. Potatoes and onions I had already got because the same ones go round from show to show . I did some sorting of these this morning putting them in sets ready for showing and did some sorting of the rest this evening.

Summer weather again today but three packs of 45 plugs for my winter baskets and tubs arrived (polyanthus and primulas ). I could have done without them while I am busy getting ready for a show. I won't have any more time tomorrow though so I thought I had better deal with them today so I transfered them to cell trays. Spent the rest of the afternoon finishing sorting out veg for the show. I had to go to the allotment and school for tomatoes (I grow some tomatoes for myself in the school polytunnel as well as those I grew for the children ). I then had to wash the root crops I brought home yesterday. I then made up a basket of mixed veg. I like doing these and this show has not had this class before. I will spend most of tomorrow cutting and sorting flowers then go staging at night.
