I made my third loaf of bread and oiled the paddles all over and underneath, as advised by Lou. and checked that that they were not on too tight, as advised by Esther, and son who made a surprise visit insisted on taking it out of the tin. He flopped it out on to the cooling tray before I presented him with the fresh tea towels. Just like that. One paddle was in the bread and one was in the loaf. It did not matter. At least the bread looked new and yummy.
Thankyou for the tips. Now I must work out how to make smaller loaves, although it would need different cooking times I expect. I must get a book.

that is good news Cherry. Did a recipe book not come with your machine?

Well done - I'll look in my book and type out the recipe for the smallest of the three loaves.

that is good news Cherry. Did a recipe book not come with your machine? Yes for basic, wheat, quick, etc., in three sizes. I have only used the small size and it is immense. It takes 600 grams of flour. It is more of an instruction manual for the breadmaker. Our brilliant new breadmaker on here recommended a good book, but I am due a trip to the library and will look there as well. Geranium I need to put them in the breadmaker of course and I won't have a programme, unless I use the same times as I already do now.

I don't think the 'small' loaf would be any smaller then yours, then. Sorry. I hope the book helps.

How many paddles do you have in your machine ?? the way you speak it sounds as though you have 2 what make is your brea maker.

Two small paddles Lesley and the machine is a Russell Hobbs.
Thanks for the thought Geranium. The baking tin in the breadmaker is much larger than ordinary bread baking tins. It is very deep too.

I suspect that most bread makers are like that, Cherry.

Nope, it's definitely bigger than mine 650gm is largest mine does and has only one paddle, sounds like yours with 2 paddles is to make more of the traditional long and tall loaf Cherry as opposed to mines small but tall, but ours on the smallest of the 3 settings is plenty for us 2 for 2 - 3 days

Thank goodness I can get the bread out now. This will suit me better if I can find out how to make a smaller quantity.

All the time Rosie. I am very happy with the breadmaker. I do make a sweet loaf and put a small amount of cinnamon in this. I can make anything which contains at least 500 grams flour, so if the recipe is in the recipe section, I could have a go.
