I really liked Sylvia Cat loads of blooms and just gets better and better. Not the greatest tuber maker. Very thin and skinny. Looking forward to seeing some of your others flower. How are the other plants doing ? I have no buds on peach delight yet here . Only for garden letting it all come up with just disbud the wings only and enjoy it.

I saw this on Facebook. Clearview Audrey is off to a great start this show season. It was the Best BB Triple at the Kitsap Dahlia show this past weekend and also the Best Triple in the Show! Unfortunately it wasn't our entry, but we thank our good friend Al Kaas for bringing it. temporary image hostingI hope my reply did not upset them. Not a good set, if judged in the UK, The right hand bloom is shallow.

Not a good vase little untidy and not very well staged!!!!! I would have suggested a few petals come out of the left hand bloom to match them up after all it is bearded and a finger in the right hand bloom to tease the petals down slightly to create a more balance set.

moonlight i have one very simular to candy jane called rasberry ripple it has sported again this year throwing the odd full purple bloom I have a funny feeling that I was told that that happens in the end with these random variegated dahlias. Eventually they revert back to a full colour bloom. Don't quote me on that, just have vague memories of having told that. The randomness of variegated dahlias like Candy Jayne are less stable than other combinations single / blends but like I said don't quote me on that.

I have been experimenting with kenora sunset as a trial medium to see what I need to look for with depth and centre. Got this one out. Was grown 8up. Is the depth and centre just about there Tel ian etc.... Anyone who has an opinion . This was 26days from wing buds being removed and stripped three pairs down. There is some petal damage and the odd one not come out properly which would be carefully removed etc.... Not near the ring but a medium all the same.

Raymond for an outside bloom it is very good it still lacks depth and you say it is a little small. My advice would be (if you grow it again is) if growing just for the garden just carry on, if you want to improve the blooms for yourself and for showing then I would remove Basel growth from the plants restrict it to 7 breaks remove all side shoots give it a couple of High nitrogen feeds then go on to a high potash as the buds form (and Epsom salts if you like) for colour. I can see the petals are wet but water them well every other day with you. Your bloom has very good colour and the centre is better a big big improvement on past photos.

Thank you ian the other 7 on this plant where knocked back and budding now trying to time for my show this one coming off tomorrow or Thursday going to try and stage it in a vase ! Haha . I have stripped every side shoot off all the mediums bar the bottom one's so I get a second flush. Starting removing some of the excess cabbage on the plants. The worst being narrows Sonia. Strangest bushiest plant I have. Need a lot taken off it and really more space. Next year will be 22 to 24 in main bed rather than the 29 currently. Does the same apply to small decs like winholm Diane ? I am stripping most of the side shoots out. Aa says all of them . I need to thin out the cabbage on the zoe and Andrea. Now fighting each other for superiority. Cannot get between them and pushing the stems at angles. Andrea is winning a very very strong growing plant. Main stem is a whopper. Looking forward to seeing your Jersie Lou78W I have 3 in bud so hopefully about 23 to 25 days to full flower. I have a kelsea Carla soon and looks like it could be oversize ! Or at the ring. To early for the show anyway learning to grow it.

With the Diane's yes I personally would take all the side shoots off and the basal growth and I grow them 7 up watering them well after a couple or three High nitrogen feeds and two or three high potash feeds plus folia feeds if you like, careful not to over feed you do not want coarse blooms

Watching the feed the main bed..got a lot of basal growth or what I call cabbage to remove tomorrow. Better get my skates on.
Should have some trial one's out soon. Let what they look like. Got the collarette raising from John Carter opening now . Looks nice like Claire de lune with pointed petals.
