I like your Persicaria too, SteveN. I'll be looking out for that. I haven't any space for new roses.

Were you out having a gloat, or is it indoors with you? ;D

You really love this rose SteveN. Funny how I can tell this. It will look lovely at night being white.

I bought this exotic-looking plant today - it's Belamcanda chinensis 'Freckle Face'. Last year I bought a Pardancanda 'Heart of Darkness' from the same Nursery, and it has proved to be hardy in my garden. They're in the Iris family and are related.

I love those too. We once grew a few at work from seed and I loved them then. If I thought there was a chance of hardiness, I would have kept a couple back for myself!

Are your doubts about its hardiness due to your being so far 'oop north'? My Pardancanda is about to flower again - it came through the winter in my garden, in a sunny position. :)I do hope this one proves to be hardy as well.

Not so much due to the northerly aspect. A little extra mulching could sort that out whilst dormant. If yours survived last winter though.....it's worth trying for certain.

My Pardancanda died, but that could be due to weed growth. I would not grow it again here.

Mine has a bud on it - as it survived last year, I'll have to hope it gets through next winter, as well.
