Hi Sue. Worthwhile annual event and this year's programme sounds very similar. Have you been to this one www.bluebellcottage.co.uk - not far from Frodsham.

Tired myself out ! - weeding, digging, raking, planting and seed sowing. And tomorrow I have to start decorating. A woman's work is never done.

Cherry - I can't think of a better way to spend a leisurely summer afternoon.

Thanks Sue. Had a look on their website - looks good and Lymm is only a short trip away. Did you know there is an open day as part of Lymm Festival in the summer - 15 private gardens to wander around, large and small, as part of NGS. Think the tickets are £7.50. Check out Lymm Festival online and go to Events.

Hi Raymond. I'm quite drawn to pastel colours (and also when I do any watercolour painting) so I chose what I hope will look lovely - Nana Alba, Hidcote, Hidcote Pink, Miss Kathyrn and Blue Ice; the lower ones will be at the start and end of the border with the taller varieties in between. The planting pattern is white (15"), pale pink (20"), purple (20"), dark pink (24"),very pale blue (24"), dark pink (24"), purple (20"), dark pink (24"), very pale blue (24"), dark pink (24"), purple (20"), pale pink (20") and white (20"). These are all described as hardy.
There are some others I like so may order them to grow in pots.

Raymond - my lavender plants have arrived, 13 very healthy specimens about 4" tall in plant pots, obviously well cared for. Purple, pale pink, white, deep pink and ice blue. They've included a leaflet 'The Lavender Collection 2015' which shows everything you need to know on growing, aftercare and uses with pics and descriptions of all current varieties. Leaflet has a list of plants by name/price too and lots of info. Beautiful collection from the country's premier lavender nursery.

Ordered lavenders to fill strip of land between me and my neighbour's garden. Usual Hidcote variety but some lovely pastel hues as well from Downderry Nursery. Hope they will look as nice as they do on their website.

Thanks Daitheplant - I will certainly have a go. As you say, cuttings cost nothing.

Good luck Raymond - hope your cuttings do well. My next 'mission' is to try Penstemon cuttings. I will see if that works.

Ha ha. I have progressed. No Cherry - they were in an ordinary garden pot in the open air. My friends were admiring my lovely lace cap and I said I would try to do cuttings for them. They each have one now so mission accomplished. Pot luck eh ?

Raymond. A complete novice here but last year I snipped 5-6 pieces off my lace cap hydrangea, neatened off the cut edge and stuck them straight into multi-purpose compost around the edges of a pot. Kept them watered and just left them to do their thing. Ended up with 6 healthy plants.
