I watched GW and still think it is better than it was, even with Monty Don.

I am quite liking the new series but as folks on here say, the Beechgrove is much better than GW, not long till it starts it's series now though ;D

This episode seemed to have a nice balance to it. I loved some of the plants and ideas for the future.

Yes, I enjoyed it too, but I agree with Grindle. There is something missing, but I can't put my finger on it.

Wonder how many here remember Percy Thrower doing mainly flowers from his garden, the Magnolias and Arthur Billet doing the veg from Clack's farm? Now they did get down to the nitty gritty and no other presenters either.

One of the many interesting subjects was Sweetcorn. He said growing them in a block isn't that important and that he pollinates by stroking them with his hand. I'm inclined to agree as plenty of light is so important. I have a strawberry bed in it's last season and an onion bed, I intend to grow Sweetcorn in amongst both.

Correction, it wasn't Monty, it was Bob Flowerdew. I listened to the repeat this afternoon (embarrassed smile)
