Wonder how many here remember Percy Thrower doing mainly flowers from his garden, the Magnolias and Arthur Billet doing the veg from Clack's farm? Now they did get down to the nitty gritty and no other presenters either. I used to enjoy watching from Clacks farm ;D Bob Flowerdew was great too

I still miss Clay Jones. Bob Flowerdew is mainly on GQT now, but I expect his twins are demanding and he had a bad time when his wife was seriously ill. That was two years ago. Vonetta was so ill, her unusual operation at The Papworth, where her body was cooled to 20 deg., was filmed and used on TV, without any reference to her husband. Bob put in a lot of time just looking after his wife and children. He even had to fly to Jamaica to help bring her home because she was so ill. I have talked to him, and he showed me the photos of his twins which he keeps with him. He is a really nice person.

I have always liked Bob Flowerdew, i like his column in Ag too.
I am pleasantly surprised about GW, i wasn't looking forward to Monty presenting it but maybe it's better as he is in his own garden. Could do without Rachel though (i know certain forum members of the male persuasion will disagree ;D) and even Joe, i liked Sarah Raven when she was on it.

met Clay Jones at Kingston Woolies where he was doing a gardening talk and Quiz. I won a nice pair of gloves and a lawnmower if I remember correctly. I think it was Cuthbertsons who did Woolies seeds or maybe the other which I cant think of right now who sponsored it.
Didn't know that about BF cherry but he always came across as quite down to earth in a hippy sort of way.
In todays Daily Mail an article slamming the beeb for letting Greenacres, the garden created for GW, go to rack and ruin.

That was a good prize SP. I have a book written by Clay Jones, Stefan Buczacki and Geoffrey Smith. I can't find it quickly as I have an extensive library of gardening books. It is called Three Men in a Garden. I must have another read of this.
