Wow!! ......I see you have your dahlia beds covered with plastic....are you going to remove it or plant through it? We are going to plant through it as trial this year as last year it was difficult to weed without disturbibg the dahlias theres lots of fat hen, chick weed and bind weed. The plan is then to remove it when the dahlias are done cover beds in manure then put the cover back on again (hopefully there will be no digging next year then) Thats the plane whether or not it works is another matter

Well still very busy lol There was a frost last night and had to cover everything and even then the potatoes still caught it a little, thy will be ok unlike other peoples down there. There could be a frost tonight I dont think there will be but I am not taking any chances and have bought some more fleece today, I may just cover the whole plot just to be safe.
This week I have done loads and loads of watering as so hot during the day, I have planted the other bed of glads, topped up the potatoes in bags, sown runner beans in pots, peas in pots, more cabbage seeds and have potted on about 60 chillis/peppers and 120 tomatoes of 4/5 varieties.
The dahlias came from Halls and have been potted in to small pots but may need potting on again, then we need to take our dahlia cuttings down there too.
Still we are away this weekend so will have a rest but I dont think I will be restng as I will be too worried about the plot

That looks really fabulous. What a great gardener you are Candyblue. I am growing Mondeo Spring Asparagus. It is new, but next year I can use the one already growing. I have forgotten its name.

I think it might be classed as high quality pottering then Candyblue. You don't get tired with faffing about.

Well today for the first time since Feb it has rained nearly all day!! Didnt even mind getting soaked. OH has finally planted the runner bean plants that I did in pots, we have had the canes in for ages lol! The idea is to put butternut squashes in the middle of them but only two have germinated and they are still small so they will have to wait a while. I had also sown 5 types of courgettes in 3 pots, two in each and have moved them onto bigger pots, one lot the green bush which I normally grow didnt come up but the one ball, the yellow one and the other two have come up fine. I have also sown two trayfulls of parsnips as the ones we put in the ground have done nothing at all,not sure if these will do any better but worth a try. By the end of next weekend we want to have all of the dahlias in the ground, the chrysanths in the greenhouse in the ground, the tomatoes in greenhouse and ground and also the aubergines, peppers and chillis in. Not sure where all of these are going as I would say we have about 100 diferrent toms of 5 varieties, the 100s and 1000s are going in hanging baskets on the posts that anchor down the greenhouse and I want some of each variety outdoors and indoors I have never had such healthy plants before and all of them to germinate and get to two foot tall is unheard of!! We also probably have about 100 plants of different peppers, chillies and aubergines so we are rapidly running out of space! Rob says he is going to ask the plot next door who has an empty greenhouse that he doesnt use at the moment to see if we can maybe use that, fingers crossed. So all in all its going to be a very bust week, not sure if I am going to have time to go to work ;D But it all needs to be done this week really as my dad is going into hospital to have an operation on the 13th and everything needs to be in the ground by then in case I dont have as much time to do as much as I would like. Hopefully I will try and get some piccies this week
